Santorini Travel Guide
In honor of Kyle and I's five year anniversary this week, I thought I would share a little photo diary and travel guide from our honeymoon in Santorini, Greece! We spent time in both Athens and Santorini, but really, Santorini takes the cake. This place is so beautiful that it is actually, physically impossible to take a bad picture. All of your photos will turn out amazing. It's like a rule or something.
I've included a few tips, should you decide to add a trip to this beautiful island to your bucket list (hint: you definitely should)! Enjoy!
Go
- In the Fall. Summer is peak season and we were told it could get so crowded due to the many cruise ships that stop it was hard to walk down the tiny streets. September and October are said to be the best times. We went in mid-October and there were no crowds, though the weather was on the cooler side.
Stay
- In Oia. Known for the best sunsets, caldera views, cave hotels, white washed buildings, shopping, and more
- We stayed at Mystique and it was amazing! Kyle found it and got a deal through Luxury Link, a website which is great for finding 5-star boutique hotel packages.
Do
- Rent a scooter
- Go sailing in the caldera
- Swim in the volcano's sulphur springs. Good swimmers only and be prepared to swim
- Eat seafood
- Snorkel the volcano
See
- Sunset at Amoudi Bay
- Akrotiri or Red Beach - requires a short hike
- A winery - we went to Santo Winery
- Kamari, a black sand beach that is more lively with lots of restaurants nearby
